Westchester Anxiety Treatment specializes in the assessment and cognitive behavioral treatment of Avoidant and Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).
ARFID is a complex eating disorder characterized by an extreme avoidance of certain foods or food groups, along with restricted eating patterns. Our dedicated team is here to provide compassionate support and evidence-based treatments for individuals struggling with ARFID.
Recognizing ARFID’s signs and symptoms is crucial for early intervention. Individuals with ARFID might exhibit anxiety around new or specific foods, extreme sensitivity to textures, limited variety in their diet, and significant weight loss or nutritional deficiencies. Youth with ARFID often struggle socially, as it can be difficult to eat at friend’s homes, parties, and restaurants. At Westchester Anxiety Treatment, we work collaboratively with patients and their families to create personalized treatment plans that address both the physical and emotional aspects of ARFID.
If you or your child are struggling with symptoms of ARFID, please reach out to Dr Joanna Robin at jrobin@westchesteranxietytreatment.com or (917) 608-5741.
